EVO TRAIL RUN

Evo Trail Run is a new trail running event held in the forests of Evo, Southern Finland, on 15 May 2027.

The event offers two distances: EVO5 – 5 km (3.1 miles) and EVO12 – 12 km (7.5 miles). EVO5 is a more accessible route for those looking for a shorter trail running experience, while EVO12 offers a more demanding course with tougher climbs and more varied terrain.

Both routes take runners through the distinctive forest landscapes of Evo, combining trails, forest roads and changing terrain. The courses are clearly marked, and aid stations are available along the route.

The race centre is located at Evokeskus, Saarelantie 1, 16970 Evo. Changing rooms, showers and toilets are available for participants.

The event is suitable both for runners taking part in their first trail race and for those looking for a more challenging day on the trails.

Every finisher will also receive a special Evo Trail Run keepsake to remember the day.

However, a race number and electronic timing cannot be guaranteed for participants registering on the day. We therefore strongly recommend registering in advance.

Distances

EVO5 – 5 km / 3.1 miles

EVO5 is the shorter and more accessible of the two courses.

The route runs through the forests of Evo and includes trails, forest roads and road crossings.

There is one official aid station on the course.

EVO12 – 12 km / 7.5 miles

EVO12 offers a more demanding trail running experience, with more varied terrain, climbs and more technical sections.

There are two official aid stations on the course.

The EVO5 aid station and the first EVO12 aid station are the same.

Course markings

The courses will be clearly marked with ribbons and signs.

EVO5 course markings are green.

EVO12 course markings are red.

Participants are responsible for following the markings for their chosen distance.

Information about a possible GPX file or route map published in advance will be provided later.

Aid stations

There is one aid station on the EVO5 course and two aid stations on the EVO12 course.

At minimum, water and sports drink will be available. Energy gels, bars or other snacks may also be provided. More detailed information will be published closer to the event.

Cups will be available at the aid stations, so participants do not need to carry their own cup.

Each aid station will also have basic first-aid supplies.

Personal drinks and nutrition

Participants may carry their own drinks and nutrition, such as:

  • a water bottle or running vest

  • energy gels

  • energy bars

  • chocolate or other personal snacks

Outside assistance is not permitted along the course.

Only participants and event personnel are allowed on the race course. Supporters, friends and spectators may not enter the course to provide personal assistance or refreshments.

Carrying a mobile phone is strongly recommended for safety reasons.

Participants should dress and equip themselves appropriately for the weather and terrain. Trail running shoes or other footwear suitable for off-road running are recommended.

Running poles are not permitted.

Headphones

Headphones are permitted, but their use is not recommended.

Participants must be able to hear other runners, event officials, traffic and any instructions given by the organiser.

Dogs and other animals

Participation with dogs or other animals is not permitted.

Roads and road crossings

The course includes road sections and road crossings.

Event officials will be present at road crossings, but their presence does not remove the participant's responsibility to observe traffic and cross safely.

Participants must:

  • obey traffic regulations

  • follow instructions given by event officials

  • make sure themselves that it is safe to cross the road

Participants do not have right of way over other traffic.

Age and participants under 18

Participants aged 18 or over may take part independently.

Participants under the age of 18 may participate:

  • together with a parent or guardian, or

  • independently with written permission from a parent or guardian

The organiser does not set a separate minimum age. The parent or guardian is responsible for assessing whether the chosen distance is appropriate for the young participant's age, experience, health and fitness level.

First aid and duty to assist

The main first-aid point and more extensive first-aid equipment are located at the Race Centre.

Each aid station also has basic first-aid supplies.

Every participant has a duty to assist a person in need.

Any accident, injury or other situation that may endanger safety must be reported without delay to the Race Safety Manager:

Henry Raita
Tel. +358 50 9172 185

In a serious or urgent emergency, call the emergency number 112.

If necessary, a participant must stop their own race in order to assist a person in need.

Withdrawal from the race

If a participant withdraws from the race, the organiser must be informed without exception.

A withdrawal must be reported either to:

Race Safety Manager Henry Raita
Tel. +358 50 9172 185

or to the nearest aid station or event official.

A participant who withdraws must not leave the event area without reporting the withdrawal.

This is a mandatory safety rule. If a participant appears to remain on the course because their withdrawal has not been reported, the organiser may have to initiate an unnecessary search operation.

Littering

Littering on the course is strictly prohibited.

Energy gel wrappers, bar wrappers, bottles and all other waste must be carried to the next aid station or to the finish.

Please leave the Evo environment at least as clean as you found it.

Finish and timing

The start and finish for both distances are located at the Race Centre.

Electronic timing will be used.

The finish and Race Centre close at 16:00. Participants must reach the finish before this time.

The timing chip must be returned to the organiser at the finish.

Awards

The three fastest participants in each distance will be awarded prizes.

The EVO5 Awards Ceremony will take place at 13:00.

The EVO12 Awards Ceremony will take place at 14:30.

Product prizes will also be raffled among participants.

Every finisher will receive a special Evo Trail Run keepsake.

Changing facilities, toilets and showers

Toilets, changing rooms and showers are available for participants at the Race Centre.

There are no toilets along the course.

Food and refreshments

There will be no event-operated café or food service at the Race Centre.

Participants should therefore bring any food they may need before or after the race.

Parking

Free parking is available at the Race Centre.

Please follow event signage, traffic control and parking instructions when arriving.

Photography and video

Photographs and possibly video footage will be taken during the event.

Photos and videos may be used in communications, marketing, websites and social media channels relating to Evo Trail Run and Aurora Events Oy.

If you do not wish to be recognisably photographed or filmed, please inform the Race Office when registering. The organiser will make reasonable efforts to take this into account during event photography and filming.

However, in general event photographs and wider crowd or race images, it may not always be possible to completely exclude individual participants from the footage.

Safety and the organiser's right to make changes

For safety reasons, the organiser reserves the right to:

  • change or shorten the course

  • change start times

  • suspend the race

  • cancel the event or part of the event

Such decisions may be made, for example, because of severe weather, wildfire risk, unsafe course conditions or another unforeseen safety risk.

Participants must always follow the safety instructions given by the organiser and event officials.

Insurance and participant responsibility

Participants are responsible for their own personal insurance coverage.

Each participant is responsible for assessing their own health, fitness and ability to complete their chosen distance safely.

The briefing will cover important information for the day, including:
